Parental Consent

A parent or legal guardian must accompany your child to each dental appointment.  We insist on this so that we may provide care for your child with your informed consent, and so that we may learn from you about any dental or medical concerns you may have for your child.   If we are unable to obtain your consent, we will have to reschedule your child’s appointment.

Treatment

At Dakota Children’s Dentistry, we typically place white fillings on both primary (baby) teeth and permanent (adult) teeth.  White filling have advantages in that they bond to the tooth and are nearly invisible.  Some of the white fillings materials we use on baby teeth release fluoride into the tooth and surrounding teeth, making them less likely to get new cavities.

We can also place silver amalgam fillings at a parent’s request.   Please let the doctor know what type of filling you prefer before the appointment begins so we can make your child’s treatment appointment as brief as possible.   Please check with your insurance company to determine coverage of different types of fillings.

Sealants

Sealants are placed to help prevent tooth decay.  It is expected that some sealants need maintenance and touch-ups.  At Dakota Children’s Dentistry, we maintain our sealant placement for up to 5 years.  However, if the sealant was originally placed at another dentist, and a new sealant is required, you will be charged for a new sealant from us.  The new sealant will be maintained by us for 5 years.

Financial Arrangements

Our practice accepts cash, personal checks, VISA, MasterCard, and most forms of dental insurance.

If you do not have insurance, please talk to the financial coordinator to make a payment arrangement.

If you have a dental benefit plan, please bring your information with you.

We appreciate payment of your estimated patient portion at the time of treatment.  Our administrative staff will be happy to provide you with information and answer questions about fees, financial arrangements and insurance coverage.  However, due to the large number and variety of dental insurance plans, it is impossible for us to be familiar with every detail of your dental insurance.  You are responsible for any charges incurred during your child’s treatment that are not a benefit under your dental insurance.  Please call your insurance company if you have any questions about benefits provided.
